Grandy goes deep twice, but Moore's 2 HRs power Marlins past Mets

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. -- Curtis Granderson hit a pair of homers and drove in five runs, but Tyler Moore also knocked two long balls, including the go-ahead shot in the eighth inning, in the Marlins' 15-9 win over the Mets on Wednesday at First Data Field.
Granderson belted a monstrous two-run homer to right off Miami starter Scott Copeland in the first and a two-run dinger off Javy Guerra in the sixth. Jay Bruce also went deep for the Mets on a solo shot in the fifth -- his second of the spring.

Moore, seeking a spot on the Opening Day roster, sent a two-out pitch over the right-field wall off Zack Wheeler. Ramón Cabrera later added a two-run blast in the decisive three-run eighth. Moore tacked on a three-run homer off Fernando Salas in the ninth.

A non-roster invitee, Moore now has five home runs in Grapefruit League play.
"[Moore] swung the bat really, really good early," Marlins manager Don Mattingly said. "He kind of had a little bit of a stretch in there where he seemed a little bit off. To see him now get into a little bit of a groove there, hopefully he can keep that and ride it."

Miami scored five times against Mets starter Steven Matz in the first two innings before he settled down for a scoreless third and fourth.
"I felt good. It just happens," Matz said of the worst of his four Spring Training starts.
J.T. Realmuto collected three hits for Miami, while Adeiny Hechavarría and Matthew den Dekker, facing his former club, each had a pair. den Dekker also drove in three runs.

Marlins Up Next: The Marlins are the road team in a matchup against the Cardinals at 1:05 p.m. ET on Thursday at Roger Dean Stadium. It can be heard live on Gameday Audio. Dan Straily is scheduled to start, and Edinson Vólquez, the anticipated Opening Day starter, is expected to pitch in relief. Dustin McGowan, Kyle Barraclough, Brian Ellington and Junichi Tazawa are also listed among the relievers. Dee Gordon, Justin Bour, Realmuto and Marcell Ozuna are among the starting position players in the lineup.
Mets Up Next: New York will travel to the Ballpark of the Palm Beaches to play division-rival Washington at 1:05 p.m. ET on Thursday. The game can be seen live on MLB.TV. Right-hander Robert Gsellman, bidding to make the starting rotation, will make his fifth Spring Training appearance. Righties Salas, Paul Sewald and Hansel Robles are also scheduled to pitch.
