Buttrey gets unexpected question on his RV
After recording a six-out save in the Angels’ 4-3 win over the A’s on Saturday, reliever Ty Buttrey was greeted with a special guest during his postgame Zoom interview with the media.
Buttrey’s teammate and fellow reliever Noé Ramirez joined the video conference call, asking Buttrey about the RV he bought this offseason and if he believes it’s helped him this year. Buttrey laughed, put on his face mask and answered the question to the best of his abilities.
“So I bought an RV and drove it from Tampa to California," Buttrey said, trying not to laugh. "The RV has enhanced my routine, I feel like. It’s done a lot of good things for my life and for baseball. But, great question by Noé Ramirez. Thank you."
Buttrey, 27, lowered his ERA to 2.84 on the year with his two scoreless innings against the A’s, picking up his third save. He’s essentially become the club’s closer after Hansel Robles was demoted from that role early in the season.
