Bauer, Blackmon named Players of the Week

Tribe right-hander Trevor Bauer received the honor for the first time in his career while Rockies star Charlie Blackmon took home the award for the sixth time as they were named the American League and National League Players of the Week presented by W.B. Mason on Monday.

All-time winners: AL | NL

Bauer made two starts in the past week, allowing one run in 16 2/3 innings. Opponents hit just .175 against him. On Sunday, he shut down the Tigers to earn his first career shutout and third career complete game. He’s the first Indians pitcher to win Player of the Week since Corey Kluber in September 2017.

Blackmon is honored as Player of the Week for the first time since May 2017. In seven games this week, Blackmon hit .568 (21-for-37) with six home runs and 15 RBIs. He entered the week hitting .295 for the year, and on Monday that average sits at .336. He raised his OPS from .906 entering the week to 1.037.
