Bauer's administrative leave extended

Major League Baseball will extend Trevor Bauer’s paid administrative leave until July 27.

The extension was made in agreement with the Players Association and follows a seven-day extension of his initial leave that began on July 2.

Bauer is under investigation following sexual assault claims from a woman who alleges that the pitcher got physical with her during recent encounters. The Pasadena (Calif.) Police Department has opened a criminal investigation, and his accuser was granted a temporary ex parte restraining order. Bauer was granted a formal hearing, set for July 23, to dispute the restraining order.

Under the joint domestic violence policy agreed upon by MLB and the MLB Players Association, the Commissioner’s Office can ask for the Players Association’s consent to extend the administrative leave.
