Wednesday's top prospect performers

Here's a look at Wednesday’s top Minor League performers from each team's Top 30 Prospects list:

Mariners: Julio Rodriguez, OF (MLB No. 2), Double-A Arkansas
It’s like déjà vu at this point, but J-Rod recorded yet another multihit game with a 3-for-6 night at the plate. Rodriguez doubled, drove in one run and scored three in Arkansas’ 10-3 win, giving the Mariners' No. 1 prospect his 24th multihit effort in 64 games this season and his eighth of the three-hit variety. The 20-year-old is batting a blistering .488 with a 1.173 OPS, four steals, five doubles, six RBIs, seven walks and only 10 strikeouts in his past 10 games. Mariners prospect stats »

Brewers: Alex Binelas, 3B (No. 17), Low-A Carolina
The Brewers 3rd-round pick from the 2021 Draft had one of his most productive days at the plate since making his pro debut on Aug. 3. Binelas set a career high in hits by going 4-for-5, including a double and a clutch eighth inning go-ahead solo homer in Carolina’s 8-6 win over Down East. The 21-year-old has been productive at the plate through his first 27 games in the Minors. Binelas, an Oak Creek, Wis. native, has slashed .327/.417/.541 with four homers, 20 RBIs and has drawn 14 walks since making his debut. Brewers prospect stats »

Cubs: Christopher Morel, OF/INF (No. 20), Double-A Tennessee
In his first career game with three extra-base hits, Morel made sure to send Tennessee fans home happy as he cranked a walk-off, three-run homer in the 10th to put an exclamation point on his 3-for-6 day. The 22-year-old started the scoring off with an RBI double in the first, one of two doubles he would leg out and the first of four runs he drove in. In his past 10 games, Morel is slashing .317/.364/.659 with three dingers, five doubles and nine RBIs. Cubs prospect stats »

Dodgers: James Outman, OF (No. 9), Double-A Tulsa
Jose Ramos, OF (No. 16), Low-A Rancho Cucamonga

Following a strong month of August where he slashed .339/.400/.576 in 14 games with Tulsa, Outman has continued to hit the ball with authority in September. That success continued Wednesday as Outman hit two solo homers, his seventh and eighth since making his Double-A debut on July 23, in Tulsa’s 6-5 loss to Amarillo. The multihomer game was his second of 2021 and brings his slugging percentage up to .774 through his first 31 at-bats in September.

Ramos had his second multihomer performance of the season as he belted a two-run homer in the third inning and game-tying, two-run homer in the ninth inning of Wednesday night’s win over Inland Empire. The 20-year-old enjoyed a strong start to the minor league season as he slashed .383/.456/.633 with three homers and 15 RBIs in 15 games in the Arizona Complex League. In his first 40 games since making his Low-A debut, Ramos is batting .305 with eight homers and 38 RBIs with the Quakes. Dodgers prospect stats »

Giants: Brett Auerbach, 2B/C (No. 30), High-A Eugene
Auerbach’s 15th home run of the season helped power his five-RBI night in Eugene’s rout of Everett, as that one swing brought in the first three runs of the game in the bottom of the third. The 23-year-old then smacked a two-run single as part of a five-run sixth for the Emeralds, firmly blowing the game open to take the score from 6-3 to 8-3. The Alabama product has been enjoying a strong first season in the Minors, batting .259 with 15 dingers, 51 RBIs and 28 stolen bases across two levels. Giants prospect stats »

Indians: Tanner Burns, RHP (No. 11), High-A Lake County
Despite having to work with traffic on the bases in his outing, Burns threw five scoreless innings, while allowing four hits and a walk in his start for Lake County. Burns’ five innings of work were his most in an outing since throwing 6 1/3 innings on July 2, while the scoreless performance was his first since throwing five scoreless innings on June 11. After posting a 2.52 ERA in his first six starts, the 23-year-old has a 5.73 ERA in his past 11 starts. Cleveland prospect stats »

Mets: JT Ginn, RHP (No. 5), High-A Brooklyn
It’s been about two months since Ginn tossed a scoreless outing, but he finally broke his sour streak with five innings of three-hit, five-strikeout ball against Hudson Valley. The 2020 second-rounder worked through a troublesome first inning where he hit the first batter he faced, gave up a single, walked a batter and allowed a double steal. But he got his first strikeout of the night on the next batter and worked around a handful of hits, walks and stolen bases in his next four innings to finish the night unscathed, including strikeouts of Yankees’ No. 1 prospect Anthony Volpe and No. 13 prospect Everson Pereira to cap off his outing. Twins: Jose Miranda, INF (No. 8) Triple-A St. Paul
Noah Miller, SS (No. 13), FCL Twins
Matt Wallner, OF (No. 14), High-A Cedar Rapids

From the leadoff spot, Miranda went 3-for-6 with a homer, double and three RBIs for St. Paul. Making the jump from Double-A to Triple-A doesn’t seem to be slowing down the 23-year-old infielder. Miranda has slashed .330/.388/.545 with 13 homers and 40 RBIs since being called up from Wichita on June 28. Before getting called up, Miranda batted .345 with a .996 OPS with 13 home runs and 38 RBIs in 47 Double-A games.

Miller had his most impressive performance at the plate Wednesday, going 5-for-5 with a homer, a triple and five RBIs in the FCL Twins 15-8 win over the FCL Orioles Orange. Miller, who made his pro debut on Aug. 16, set career highs in hits and RBIs. The Twins’ Competitive Balance Round A pick from the 2021 Draft has slashed .281/.354/.474 in his first 57 at-bats in the Florida Complex League.

Wallner went 3-for-5 with a home run, a double and two RBIs in Cedar Rapids’ 11-5 win over Wisconsin, continuing a strong start to September. After batting .185 in 92 at-bats in August, Wallner has hit .320 (8-for-25) in his first six games to begin the final month of the season. Before going on the injured list with a right wrist sprain on May 26, Wallner batted .333 with a .977 OPS in his first 19 games of 2021. But since returning on July 20, Wallner has hit .240 in 39 games. Twins prospect stats »

Yankees: Luis Medina, RHP (No. 8), Double-A Somerset
Not only did Medina have his best outing of 2021, the 22-year-old had his best showing on the mound since 2019 by throwing seven scoreless innings against the Yard Goats. Medina, who tied a career-high in innings, had not completed six innings in any of his 17 starts in 2021. He managed to finish off the sixth frame on Wednesday by working out of trouble. After loading the bases with a one-out walk, Medina got out of the jam by striking out the next batter and then inducing an inning-ending groundout to keep Hartford scoreless.
