Tuesday's top prospect performers
Here's a look at Tuesday’s top Minor League performers from each team's Top 30 Prospects list:
Orioles: Adley Rutschman, C (MLB No. 2), Double-A Bowie
Rutschman, who batted .237 in July, put together a strong showing at the plate on Tuesday. The Orioles’ top prospect launched his first homer of August as he went 2-for-3 with a double, a home run and two RBIs in the Baysox’s 8-4 loss to the Patriots. The 23-year-old has continued to hit this season with 17 homers, 53 RBIs and has a .910 OPS in 75 games with Bowie. Orioles prospect stats »

Mariners: Noelvi Marte, SS (MLB No. 82) Low-A Modesto
The performance that Marte had at the plate on Tuesday was one that you did not want to miss. The Mariners’ No. 4 prospect went 4-for-5, smacked three homers and drove in nine runs. In his red hot night at the plate, Marte set career highs in homers, RBIs and runs scored while tying a career high in hits. Blue Jays: CJ Van Eyk, RHP (No. 7) High-A Vancouver
Manuel Beltre, SS (No. 15) DSL Blue Jays
Van Eyk threw five scoreless innings and allowed two hits and two walks against Hillsboro. The scoreless performance was just the first scoreless outing for the right-hander this year and his most effective outing since giving up one run over six innings on May 20.
The 17-year-old had his second straight multihit night after going 2-for-3 with a homer, a double, two walks and three RBIs on Tuesday. The two-hit day for Beltre also marked the fourth multihit game since he made his pro debut and made it back-to-back games with multiple walks. Cardinals: Luken Baker, 1B (No. 14) Double-A Springfield
When Baker has made contact of late, the ball has most likely left the yard. Baker homered in his fourth straight game as he went 3-for-5 with two homers, a double and five RBIs. His multihomer game was his fourth this season and his five RBIs in Springfield’s 11-4 win over Tulsa matched a season high. Dodgers: Hyun-il Choi, RHP (No. 25) High-A Great Lakes
In his High-A debut, the right-hander threw five innings, allowed one run and struck out eight in a 5-3 win over Fort Wayne. Choi had a 3.17 ERA with Low-A Rancho Cucamonga before getting called up. His most effective stretch with the Quakes came in his past 10 games as he had a 2.72 ERA across 46 1/3 innings and struck out 55 batters in that span. Dodgers prospect stats »
Giants: Sean Hjelle, RHP (No. 10), Double-A Richmond
Hjelle kicked off the month of August with his most effective outing this season. The right-hander threw seven scoreless innings, allowed just one hit, struck out four and walked two batters against Reading. The seven-inning performance set a season high for the 6-foot-11 righty, who dropped his ERA to 3.15 after his start against the Fightin Phils. Giants prospect stats »
Mets: Jose Butto, RHP (No. 14), Double-A Binghamton
In his third start in Double-A, Butto threw six scoreless innings for the Rumble Ponies while allowing five hits and striking out four. The scoreless outing against Portland gives Butto a solid bounce-back start after he gave up six runs in his first 11 innings of work since making the leap from High-A. Mets prospect stats »
Pirates: Henry Davis, C (2021 No. 1 overall pick), FCL Pirates
The No. 1 overall pick from the 2021 Draft got out to a quick start in his first pro game. Davis went 2-for-4 with three RBIs on Tuesday for the FCL Pirates. The 21-year-old collected his first pro hit and RBI with a double during his second at-bat. He followed that by belting a two-run home run to right-center field during his next trip to the plate against the FCL Rays. Rangers: Justin Foscue, 2B (No. 5), High-A Hickory
Foscue, who slashed .373/.418/1.039 with nine homers and 21 RBIs in 51 at-bats in July, has continued to hit the ball with authority in August. The Rangers first-round pick from the 2020 Draft went 2-for-4 with a double and a three-run homer against Greensboro. On the year, Foscue is batting .294 with a 1.141 OPS for Hickory after batting .182 to begin the season. Rangers prospect stats »
Reds: Allan Cerda, OF (No. 14) Low-A Daytona
By going 3-for-3 with a double, a homer and two RBIs, Cerda continued a hot stretch of hitting during which he has hit .383 with three homers and 12 RBIs in his past 15 games. Cerda’s improvements at the plate come after he hit .174 through his first 36 games. He has brought his batting average up to .231 and has an .836 OPS Reds prospect stats »
Yankees: Randy Vasquez, RHP (No. 26), High-A Hudson Valley
Vasquez threw six scoreless innings and struck out a career-high 10 batters during his start against the Cyclones, which he capped off by striking out the side in order. The 22-year-old, who was called up from Low-A Tampa on July 20, had a 2.34 ERA in 50 innings with the Tarpons, which included holding a 0.50 ERA through 18 innings in June. Yankees prospect stats »
