The Dodgers recalled left-handed pitcher Victor González and optioned right-handed pitcher Tony Gonsolin to the alternate training site on Wednesday.

Gonsolin struck out three in six scoreless innings Tuesday against the Mariners. He has not allowed a run in three starts this season, a span of 14 2/3 innings, and has not allowed a run in his last five appearances dating back to last season, a span of 17 2/3 innings. He had been filling a spot in the rotation because of the injury to left-hander Alex Wood, and it’s uncertain when he will make another start.

Wood, on the injured list with left shoulder inflammation, is expected to throw a four-inning simulated game Monday as he makes his way back to the starting rotation.

“Tony's done everything he can do, so that's a good thing for the organization,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said. “So our message to Tony was to just continue to keep that edge, keep pitching well and be ready. But, certainly, what he's done here in three starts is not lost on anyone.”

As for González, he made his Major League debut July 31 at Arizona and allowed one run on three hits in one inning. That is his only appearance with the Dodgers. In 2019, he combined to go 5-2 with a 2.31 ERA in 89 2/3 innings with 93 strikeouts in 38 games (13 starts) across three Minor League levels.
