Pham day to day after dislocating ring finger

ST. PETERSBURG -- Tommy Pham left the Rays' 4-1 win over the Royals in the eighth inning Tuesday after dislocating his right ring finger.
The finger was popped back into place and X-rays were negative. The Tampa Bay outfielder is day to day.
"Just whenever I can get the swelling out," said Pham, when asked about the plan going forward. "I'm going to go home and try and keep my hand active to reduce the swelling. But it's a day-to-day thing. Really."
Pham said he did not think he would be going on the disabled list: "Lucky," he said. "Lucky."
Pham had singled with one out, and dove back to first after leading off when Royals right-hander Kevin McCarthy threw to check the runner.
Pham got back safely, but immediately got to his feet holding his right hand. Carlos Gómez was inserted into the game as a pinch runner.
"I thought I broke it: my finger was pointed in the other direction," Pham said.
Pham came to the Rays in a July 31 trade with the Cardinals. He was just reinstated from the disabled list on Thursday after sustaining a right foot fracture.
