It was quite the sight when TJ Hopkins emerged from the Double-A Mississippi Braves' bullpen, considering he plays outfield for the visiting Chattanooga Lookouts.
A faulty or improperly secured latch caused the left-field gate to fly open as Hopkins hurled himself into the wall, completing the catch and robbing Braves No. 14 prospect Trey Harris of a hit in the process.
Hopkins appeared upset but uninjured in the aftermath of his chaotic catch, firing the ball back toward the infield before lifting his arms and inspecting the right elbow, which made contact with the wall.
Despite Hopkins' leaping catch, Chattanooga could not maintain an early lead against the Braves and found themselves on the wrong end of a 2-1 final.
