If you’ve ever seen Hank Aaron’s 715th home run, you can likely picture the scene vividly. The majestic blast to left-center field at Fulton County Stadium in Atlanta. The two overzealous fans who greet Aaron on the field as he trots toward third base. And finally, the jubilant celebration that ensues as he reaches his teammates at home plate.
But whose voice do you hear when you visualize this iconic moment?
• Hank Aaron's most memorable moments
As it happens, three legendary broadcasters -- all now in the National Baseball Hall of Fame alongside Aaron -- were on hand to chronicle the historic round tripper, which came 50 years ago Monday and made Aaron baseball’s all-time home run king, surpassing Babe Ruth.
There was Milo Hamilton, who was the Braves’ radio voice at the time. There was Vin Scully, who spent 67 years broadcasting Dodgers games from 1950-2016 and was on the away call that evening. And there was Curt Gowdy, who was on the national television broadcast for NBC.
Three Hall of Fame broadcasters. Three distinct calls of one of the most famous moments in baseball history.
As MLB celebrates the 50th anniversary of Aaron’s 715th home run, you can relive the moment as called by all three announcers right here, with the help of another Hall of Fame broadcaster, Bob Costas.
