Lindor news broken by ... his teammate?

If Taijuan Walker has news to share, ya gotta believe him. The right-hander may have just become every Mets fan's new favorite player. About 30 minutes before Francisco Lindor agreed to his blockbuster 10-year, $341 million extension on Wednesday night, Walker wrote a cryptic tweet that sent the Queens faithful, already on high alert this week, scrambling for answers.

"There's a tweet I really wanna send out but I gotta hold it back!! Lol might send it in 30 minutes though."

Of course, Twitter sleuths immediately wondered whether Walker knew something they didn't about Lindor's impending self-imposed contract deadline. Was the star shortstop nearing an agreement with the Mets?

Walker left fans hanging for about half an hour until tweeting again: "I'm excited for Opening Day tomorrow !!!!!"

That even prompted Mets backup catcher Tomás Nido to wonder what was going on. Had Walker been trolling his new fan base? Was he playing an early April Fools' joke?

Well, it's not exactly clear. At 11:24 p.m., he tweeted "Francisco Lindor!!!!!! That’s all!! That’s the tweet!!!!!" after multiple reports had already come out about the deal.

Did Walker get lucky? Did he have inside sources? We may never know. But we do know that the Mets got their man, and Walker can say he had it first. Sort of.
