Wright returns from DL, placed on restricted list

BOSTON -- The Red Sox activated knuckleballer Steven Wright from the disabled list prior to Saturday's game vs. the Rays, and he was then placed on the restricted list for 15 games by Major League Baseball.
MLB announced in Spring Training that Wright was suspended for 15 games for violating MLB's domestic violence policy. Recovering from the left knee surgery he had last season, Wright started the season on the disabled list.
Wright will be eligible to be rejoin the Red Sox on May 14 against the Athletics.
An All-Star starting pitcher for the Red Sox in 2016, Wright could be in the bullpen when he returns. The Red Sox have a full rotation with Chris Sale, David Price, Rick Porcello, Eduardo Rodriguez and Drew Pomeranz.
In a Minor League rehab start for Triple-A Pawtucket on Friday, Wright gave up six hits and four earned runs over five innings.
"He did OK. He ran out of gas a little bit late in the game," said Red Sox manager Alex Cora. "I texted with [Pawtucket manager] Kevin [Boles] this morning, he felt that he was good."
Still searching on Pomeranz
Cora mentioned after Friday's game that he would try to find something in the video that has led to Pomeranz's lack of a sharp curveball in his first two starts. Any findings yet?
"I'm trying. I'm looking. But no, nothing yet," said Cora. "It seems just me watching without talking to him and [pitching coach] Dana [LeVangie], there has to be something there from the windup and from the stretch, too. We'll keep looking at it. Everybody is talking about velocity, but that pitch is very important for him, that breaking ball. We'll keep digging, looking, and we'll make adjustments and go from there."
