CHICAGO -- Steve Stone will be back in the White Sox television booth for the 2025 season and many years to come.

Stone and John Schriffen, his play-by-play broadcast partner, announced Stone’s multiyear contract extension at the start of the second inning during a 7-0 White Sox victory over the Angels on Thursday afternoon, completing a three-game sweep and finishing their home ledger with five straight wins. The sweep kept the South Siders at 120 losses and away from the single-season record for defeats.

A 2023 Ford Frick Award finalist and award-winning analyst, Stone will begin his 18th season as a White Sox broadcaster in 2025, working a more limited game schedule.

“I decided that No. 1, I’ve always loved baseball and I couldn’t think of anybody better to call it for than the White Sox,” Stone said. “They’ve been very good to me since 2008, when I first came here and worked with Ed Farmer on radio.

“Switched over the next year to television, and it has been like a family. So it was a no-brainer. If I was going to continue to work, I was going to continue to work here. The White Sox felt the same way. They signed me to a contract that will pretty much ensure when I do decide to retire, it will be as a member of the Chicago White Sox organization.”

Prior to joining the White Sox broadcast team, Stone spent 20 seasons on the Cubs' broadcast. He will continue to work alongside Schriffen on the new Chicago Sports Network which starts on Oct. 1. The first regular-season White Sox telecast on CHSN will be on March 27, 2025, for Opening Day at home against the Angels.

“This is major,” Schriffen said. “I think Steve is the Chicago White Sox. I think this broadcast, he is the biggest reason why we’ve had success so far this season in this booth. I’ve leaned on him so much, and to be able to have him back going into next year, it’s going to be an exciting offseason.”

“His expertise and presence in the booth add depth and knowledge to every broadcast,” White Sox senior vice president, chief revenue and marketing officer Brooks Boyer said in a team statement on Stone. “Steve is treasured by White Sox fans, and we look forward to many more seasons of the iconic Steve Stone on the White Sox broadcast.”
