MLB updates spring schedule; Rays home games at Tropicana Field

Major League Baseball today issued an official update to the schedule for 2023 Spring Training, which will begin on Friday, February 24 with a pair of Cactus League games before all 30 Major League Clubs play in Cactus and Grapefruit League games on Saturday, February 25.

Due to damage to the Tampa Bay Rays’ facility in Port Charlotte, Fla., following Hurricane Ian, several modifications to the 2023 Spring Training schedule have been made, which affect nearly all Grapefruit League Clubs. Among the changes to the schedule:

The 2023 Spring Training schedule includes 20 exhibition games featuring Major League Clubs competing with World Baseball Classic National Teams. Ten games with World Baseball Classic teams will be played in both the Cactus and Grapefruit Leagues across March 8-9 prior to the scheduled North American start to the 2023 World Baseball Classic on Saturday, March 11 in Phoenix and Miami.
