Swarzak, whom the Mets signed this offseason to a two-year deal after he put together a career season in 2017, left Tuesday's game against the Astros with a calf injury. He said after the game that he felt a "grab" in his left calf while running to cover first base on a ground ball. Gurriel was scratched from Monday's game with what was thought to be wrist soreness, but on Tuesday it was discovered that it's actually his left hand. Jake Burger, White Sox
Burger, Chicago's No. 10 prospect per MLB Pipeline, is expected to miss the entire 2018 season after rupturing his left Achilles tendon while running out a ground ball on Monday. A first-round pick in the 2017 Draft, the 21-year-old third baseman slashed .263/.336/.412 with five home runs in 51 games between Arizona Rookie level and Class A Kannapolis last season.
