His two-way dominance thrilled the home fans at Tokyo Dome last week, helping lead Team Japan to a perfect 4-0 record during pool play in which it outscored its opponents, 38-8.
Ohtani went 6-for-12 with eight RBIs and seven walks in the batter’s box. He recorded three doubles, as well as a 448-foot home run that ended up in the hands of not just one fan but dozens as it was politely shared throughout the stands.

While he hit just about everything, Ohtani was also nearly untouchable on the mound. He got the start versus Team China in Japan’s Classic opener and hurled four shutout innings, allowing one hit and racking up five strikeouts.
Japan will face Team Italy in the quarterfinals on Thursday at 6 a.m. ET on FS2, and Ohtani will continue to play a massive part in the nation’s quest for its third WBC title.
