MLB's most famous duo (you know who) gets a snow sculpture
The most iconic duo right now isn’t a world-famous pop star and her football-playing boyfriend. Nope, it’s Shohei Ohtani and his dog, Decoy!
They have their own baseball card. The dog has its own passport (kind of). And now player and pooch have been immortalized in snow.
A giant sculpture of Ohtani and his dog was unveiled during the Sapporo Snow Festival in Japan earlier this week. Looks like the pair are engaged in a game of fetch with a snowball between them.
While this might be a first for Decoy, “Snowhei Ohtani” -- or “Shohei Snowtani”? -- is a festival regular. Ohtani has been the subject of snow art in Sapporo since at least 2013, when he was 19 years old and had just finished his rookie season with the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters of Nippon Professional Baseball. Last winter, he was displayed at the festival wearing an Angels batting helmet.
This year’s sculpture doesn’t contain any Dodgers logos. But you can’t go wrong with placing the two-time MVP next to baseball's most valuable pup.
