Free-agent right-hander Seth Maness threw in a showcase before scouts from at least 16 Major League teams at a suburban St. Louis school on Monday, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
Scouts from the Cubs and Nationals were present, according to the Post-Dispatch report. A source told MLB.com's Jeffrey Flanagan that the Royals were also represented.
Maness, 28, has spent his entire career to this point with the Cardinals, posting a 3.19 ERA in 244 appearances (237 1/3 innings) from 2013-16.
Maness underwent surgery to repair the ulnar collateral ligament in his pitching elbow last August, opting for that procedure rather than replacement of the UCL through Tommy John surgery, which shortened his recovery time. Recovery time from Tommy John surgery is usually 12-18 months.
