MILWAUKEE -- The Brewers navigated one player through waivers Monday but lost another, when reliever Rob Scahill was assigned outright to Triple-A Colorado Springs and infielder Ehire Adrianza was claimed by the Twins.
The Brewers had claimed Adrianza off waivers from the Giants last week but designated him for assignment two days later to claim another player, Jesús Aguilar, from the Indians. Brewers officials hoped the versatile Adrianza would slip through so he could provide organizational depth in the infield, but Minnesota claimed him as a bench option.
Scahill, meanwhile, cleared waivers and was added to Milwaukee's big league camp as a non-roster invitee. Himself a waiver claim (from the Pirates in July), Scahill posted a 2.45 ERA and a 68.4 percent ground-ball rate in 16 appearances for the Brewers late last season.
