The Royals optioned right-hander Jakob Junis to Triple-A Omaha following the team's 1-0 win over the Angels on Sunday. The team will make a corresponding roster move prior to Tuesday's game against the Giants.
Junis pitched a scoreless inning against the A's on Wednesday in his Major League debut, allowing one hit and walking two before escaping the jam.
Ranked by MLBPipeline.com as the organization's No. 6 prospect, Junis split time between the Royals' Double-A and Triple-A clubs in 2016, posting a 10-10 record with a 4.05 ERA and an 8.6 strikeouts-per-nine-innings ratio.
Over the course of Junis' six Minor League seasons, the 24-year-old righty is 28-38 with a 4.39 ERA and a 7.6 K/9 rate.
