Rangers first baseman/left fielder Ronald Guzmán was placed on the 10-day IL with a meniscus tear in his right knee, the club said on Tuesday.
The Rangers also announced during a pregame media conference Tuesday that Guzmán will be reevaluated by the club's medical staff once the team wraps up its current road trip.
Guzmán, who made his first career start in left field on Monday, was removed from the 1-0 loss to the Rays in the first inning after he was carted off the field with the injury.
Outfielder Adolis García, who was on the taxi squad for the Rangers' road trip, has been added to the roster. He was also added to the 40-man roster, with relief pitcher Matt Bush (flexor strain) placed on the 60-day IL.
On the play, Guzmán charged in to field a shallow fly ball hit by Rays second baseman Brandon Lowe. As Guzmán charged in, he was called off by shortstop Isiah Kiner-Falefa, who made the grab. Guzmán avoided colliding with his teammate, but as he made the cut to avoid Kiner-Falefa, he showed discomfort.
Guzmán limped to the infield dirt, where he was checked out by Rangers manager Chris Woodward and a team physician before exiting and being replaced by Eli White.
In just 16 at-bats this season, Guzmán batted .064 with one RBI and one home run. He made his MLB debut in 2018 and has spent all four of his big league seasons with the Rangers. In his career, he has 31 homers and 104 RBIs with a .227 batting average.
García made his big league debut in 2018 with the Cardinals. He went hitless in seven plate appearances with the Rangers in the shortened 2020 season.
