DENVER -- The Rockies tendered contract offers to all seven of their arbitration-eligible players -- third baseman Nolan Arenado, shortstop Trevor Story, catcher Tony Wolters, left-handed relief pitcher Chris Rusin (who avoided arbitration Thursday with a one-year, $1,687,500 contract), right-handed starting pitchers Chad Bettis and Jon Gray, and left-handed starting pitcher Tyler Anderson.
Left-handed pitcher Sam Howard, who made four relief appearances as a rookie for the Rockies last season, was non-tendered by the club before Friday's 6 p.m. MT deadline for offering 2019 contracts.
Howard, 25, a third-round Rockies Draft pick in 2014, posted a 2.25 ERA in four innings last season, when he was called up twice from Triple-A Albuquerque. In the Minors, Howard went 3-8 with a 5.06 ERA in 21 starts.
The move leaves the Rockies' Major League roster at 39, one below the limit.
