Ray, Schwindel named Players of the Week
The accolades keep rolling in for Blue Jays left-hander Robbie Ray, while Cubs first baseman Frank Schwindel’s storybook run is showing no sign of slowing down. The two were named the Players of the Week presented by Chevrolet on Tuesday.
Ray had two more dominant outings last week, striking out 20 batters with four walks and allowing only two runs on five hits over 13 2/3 innings in a pair of wins. Ray, who also won the AL Pitcher of the Month Award for August, owns a 1.70 ERA across 12 starts since the beginning of July.

Schwindel, a veteran of eight Minor League seasons, was claimed off waivers from the A’s in July and was given a chance to earn regular playing time after the Cubs traded Anthony Rizzo to the Yankees. The 29-year-old has seized the opportunity.
