Check out the Negro Leagues throwback unis for Rickwood game
The Cardinals and Giants have unveiled their uniforms for the upcoming MLB at Rickwood Field game.
For their June 20 showdown paying tribute to the Negro Leagues from the former home of the Birmingham Black Barons, both clubs will honor their respective cities’ legacies of Black baseball with modern redesigns of the uniforms worn by the San Francisco Sea Lions (featuring a bear cub patch, like the originals, which were repurposed from the then-defunct San Francisco Cubs organization) and St. Louis Stars.
This won’t be a debut appearance for either set of uniforms -- the Cardinals have worn replica Stars uniforms on many occasions over the past several decades, and this will be the fifth time the Giants wear these Sea Lions unis for a regular-season game, having recently brought them out in each of the last three seasons for Juneteenth and African American Heritage days at Oracle Park.
