Hill's return could be derailed by weather

MONTERREY, Mexico -- The Dodgers plan to activate Rich Hill to start Sunday's series finale against the Padres, although manager Dave Roberts concedes there is concern over how weather conditions could work against that.
Hill is on the disabled list because of issues with his left middle finger, first a split nail, then an infection. Humidity could hasten development of finger blisters.
"That is a thought," said Roberts. "He hasn't pitched in these conditions probably since Cincinnati or St. Louis. He played catch today and it felt good, but that's something in the forefront of our mind."
Of course, Hill has had blisters and various finger issues at sea level and on both coasts of the continent, so the Dodgers always seem prepared for a bullpen game when he starts.
On the trip to Mexico, they have a nine-man bullpen, with Ross Stripling the most likely to be on standby for an early Hill exit.
Worth noting
• Roberts estimated that a Justin Turner return is two weeks away, which would put the third baseman's recovery from a broken left wrist at two months.
Turner is traveling with the club. During practice on Friday, he hit off a tee and took ground balls, although he still hasn't hit live pitching.

• Julio Urías, on the trip to his homeland, continues his recovery from last year's shoulder surgery.
Roberts said the club still expects the left-hander back at some point this season, but Urias still hasn't thrown off a mound. Originally, that hurdle was expected to be cleared by the end of Spring Training.

• Before Friday's game, the Dodgers activated pitcher Walker Buehler for the start. They optioned left-handed reliever Edward Paredes to Triple-A Oklahoma City and recalled Breyvic Valera to be the 26th man that is allowed for international games.
