Reds reset rotation for return to action

CINCINNATI -- While awaiting a decision from Major League Baseball on if they can resume playing on Tuesday, the Reds on Monday set their upcoming starting rotation.

If Cincinnati plays Tuesday at Kansas City, it will open the two-game series with Luis Castillo on the mound. Trevor Bauer would make the start on Wednesday.

For the next series at St. Louis, the Reds' order would be Sonny Gray on Thursday, Anthony DeSclafani on Friday and Wade Miley for Saturday.

Because one of their players tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday, the final two games of the Reds’ four-game series on Saturday and Sunday vs. the Pirates were postponed. Monday was a scheduled off-day. No makeup dates for the postponed games have been announced.

Cincinnati players and staff underwent testing on both Saturday and Sunday. If there are no more positive tests and MLB clears the team, the Reds are scheduled to fly to Kansas City on Tuesday morning and play that evening at Kauffman Stadium.

The Reds are 9-11 in 2020 and split a two-game series against the Royals at Great American Ball Park last week.

Transaction
Cincinnati announced on Monday that utility infielder Christian Colón, who was designated for assignment on Friday, has cleared waivers. Colón was sent outright to the team’s alternate training site at Prasco Park.
