BALTIMORE -- The Rays were busy with their roster following Friday night's 6-3 loss to the Orioles.
Steve Geltz was optioned to Triple-A Durham. Taking his place on the 25-man roster is outfielder Oswaldo Arcia, whom the Rays acquired from the Twins on Friday. The team also announced that right-hander Danny Farquhar will be the team's 26th man for Saturday's day-night doubleheader.
Geltz is "staying positive," Rays manager Kevin Cash said. "It's a little unexplainable what's going on right now. But we'll continue to support him and try to get him right. Get him to the spot where he was last year, pitching a lot of crucial innings for us."
Geltz surrendered a home run to Manny Machado in the eighth. He has allowed eight homers in his last 10 2/3 innings and has given up 10 home runs in 20 innings on the season.
"It just happens, dude," Geltz said. "Every time I make a mistake this year, it gets hit out. And even the ones I'm not making mistakes on get hit out."
