ST. PETERSBURG -- The Rays recalled utility man Taylor Motter and righty reliever Ryan Garton from Triple-A Durham following Monday night's 3-0 loss to the Royals.
Earlier in the day, Tampa Bay dealt outfielder Brandon Guyer, infielder Steve Pearce and starting pitcher Matt Moore before the non-waiver Trade Deadline.
Motter hit .188 with two home runs and nine RBIs in his first stint with the Rays this season. He played seven different positions, though, including pitcher. Motter was sent to the Minors on June 29, but he was named International League Player of the Week on Monday after hitting .412 with two home runs, eight RBIs and eight runs scored from July 25-31.
Garton was 1-0 with a 5.17 ERA and a save in two stints with the Rays this season. With Durham, he had a 2.67 ERA in 18 games, including a 34/8 strikeout-to-walk ratio.
Desmond Jennings was activated from the disabled list before Monday's game, so the roster is at 25 players.
