Rangers promote pair of crosscheckers

ARLINGTON -- Jake Krug, an Arlington native who will be entering his 15th season with the Rangers, has been promoted to national amateur crosschecker. He spent the past three seasons as a special assignment crosschecker.
Krug graduated from the University of Texas with a degree in economics. He has been an amateur scout, and he spent four years in player development. Two of those years were spent as director of Minor League operations.
The Rangers have also promoted Ross Fenstermaker to international crosschecker after he spent five seasons as a professional scout. He is entering his eighth season with the Rangers.
Rangers assisting Kinston relief efforts
The Rangers are joining in the relief efforts for the residents of Kinston, N.C., who have been affected by the devastating flooding from Hurricane Matthew.
The Rangers Baseball Foundation is making a $10,000 contribution to The Salvation Army of Kinston to support their efforts in the flooding relief. In addition, the club is purchasing $5,000 in Walmart gift cards that can be used by the city to assist its flooding victims.
"The thoughts and prayers of the entire Texas Rangers organization are with the residents of Kinston who have felt and are still dealing with the effects of this catastrophic hurricane," said Neil Leibman, chairman of the Texas Rangers Foundation and CEO of Kinston Baseball LLC. "We have been in regular contact with Mayor Murphy and Kinston officials on how we can best provide assistance to the city. Kinston is an important part of the Texas Rangers family."
The Rangers recently purchased a Class A Carolina League affiliate in the city after being in High Desert of the California League. The Rangers are in the process of a multi-year renovation project for the 4,100-seat Grainger Stadium with home and visiting clubhouse, weight room, and concession stand expansions scheduled to be completed for the 2017 season.
