Pitcher from 2011 AL title team joins Rangers' staff
The Rangers have hired former Red Sox pitching coach Dave Bush as director of pitching strategy, the club announced on Thursday. Bush, Boston's pitching coach from 2020-23, was an MLB pitcher for nine seasons, including one in Texas in ’11.
Bush had been part of the Red Sox organization since 2016, when he was first hired as a pitching development analyst. In ’19, he was named the organization's Minor League pitching coordinator before joining the big league staff the next year.
The right-hander pitched in 211 games (187 starts) with Toronto (2004-05, 2013), Milwaukee (2006-10) and Texas. Rangers pitching coach Mike Maddux coached Bush with the Brewers and Rangers.
The Rangers also announced the following front office promotions:
- Jim Cochrane promoted to chief revenue officer
- Dan Hessling promoted to senior vice president, ticket sales
- Jeff Miller promoted to senior vice president, human resources
- Napoleon Pichardo promoted to vice president, performance
- Mike Parnell promoted to senior director, pro scouting
- Logan Frandsen promoted to director of strength and conditioning
- Wade Lamont promoted to assistant Major League strength and conditioning coach
