Scherzer not on Rangers' ALDS roster; Bradford added

BALTIMORE -- After a fairly suspenseful evening as members of the Rangers training staff, coaching staff and front office awaited Max Scherzer’s live batting practice, the club came to a conclusion on Saturday morning that the ace would not be on the American League Division Series roster.

There was a thought that Scherzer could potentially be activated for a role in the ALDS, whether it was starting or relieving, but he will continue to rehab and work his way back for a potential return later in the postseason.

There are no surprises elsewhere, with Jon Gray remaining on the IL with right forearm tightness and right-handed reliever Jonathan Hernández still down with a right lat strain.

Lefty Cody Bradford also replaced right-hander Grant Anderson, who didn’t make an appearance in the AL Wild Card Series.
