CHICAGO -- The start of Thursday's four-game series finale between the White Sox and Yankees at Guaranteed Rate Field was delayed due to storms, and a start time of 10 p.m. CT (11 ET) was announced.
The game had been scheduled to start at 7:10 CT, featuring a matchup between White Sox right-hander James Shields (1-1, 4.26 ERA) and the Yankees' Luis Cessa (0-2, 6.57). This is the second consecutive game between the two sides to be delayed due to rain, as Wednesday's game started five minutes after the scheduled start time of 7:10 p.m. Rain continued during the game, but there were no further delays.
Chicago had its batting practice -- its first in three days -- cut short due to the weather as a tarp was placed on the field. The Yankees did not take batting practice on the field Thursday.
