Tuesday's top prospect performers

Here’s a look at Tuesday’s top performers from Arizona Fall League and Winter League action.

Cardinals: Victor Scott II, CF (No. 4), Scottsdale Scorpions
The dynamic Scott reached base four times, scored twice and drove in a run out of the leadoff spot to pace the Scorpions’ 10-run attack. He also stole two more bases, making him 18-for-21 in the Fall League in that department.

Guardians: Chase DeLauter, RF (No. 4/MLB's No. 85), Peoria Javelinas
DeLauter’s go-ahead, two-out solo homer in the eighth inning was the biggest hit of the night before Scottsdale rallied again in the bottom of the frame. But it was a big night for DeLauter, nonetheless. Cleveland’s fourth-ranked prospect also notched a two-run single and walked.

Marlins: Dane Myers, CF (No. 13), Gigantes de Cibao
Myers’ first homer of winter ball was a big one: a solo shot in the seventh inning of Cibao's 10-1 rout of Toro. He also notched two singles as part of the Gigantes’ 12-hit attack.

Nationals: Trey Lipscomb, 1B (No. 14), Scottsdale Scorpions
Scottsdale rattled off 10 runs on 10 hits, but its only big fly came from Lipscomb, who cranked a game-breaking three-run tater in the seventh. It was the first round-tripper of the Fall League for Lipscomb, who went deep 14 times across two levels during the regular season.

Padres: Graham Pauley, 3B (No. 11), Peoria Javelinas
Jakob Marsee, CF (No. 12), Peoria Javelinas
San Diego’s 11th-ranked prospect is capping a big year with a nice showing in the Fall League, where he has five homers after smashing a 3-run shot in Peoria’s tight loss to Scottsdale. Pauley is tied for third in the Fall League in homers, while slashing .269/.370/.513 in 20 games overall. More >>

Few are making as much noise this fall as Marsee, who leads the Fall League with a 1.226 OPS after another big game. Marsee went 3-for-4 with a two-run homer, also scoring twice. The big fly was his fifth, tied for third on the circuit. He also leads the AFL in slugging and is hitting .395/.505/.721 overall.

Rangers: Abimelec Ortiz, RF (No. 14), Surprise Saguaros
Ortiz launched two home runs -- solo shots in the third and eighth -- to stretch Surprise’s lead. Texas’ 14th-ranked prospect got a late start in the Fall League but has been great despite missing a week with back spasms, hitting .344 with a 1.134 OPS in 11 games. More >>

Red Sox: Tyler McDonough, 2B (Unranked), Glendale Desert Dogs
McDonough proved a threat out of the No. 9 hole in the Desert Dogs lineup, using a two-out, three-run seventh-inning homer to cap a two-hit, four-RBI night. He was the only Glendale hitter to notch multiple hits and accounted for four of the Desert Dogs’ five runs.

Reds: Carson Spiers, RHP (Unranked), Surprise Saguaros
It was a good night in the Fall League for offense but not against Spiers, who logged four scoreless innings and the victory in Surprise’s win over Glendale. The right-hander struck out four and did not walk a batter, while scattering three hits and throwing 33 of his 53 pitches for strikes.

Yankees: Benjamin Cowles, 3B (Unranked), Mesa Solar Sox
Caleb Durbin, 2B (Unranked), Mesa Solar Sox
Cowles only had one hit but it was a big one: a three-run first-inning homer that paced Mesa’s win over Salt River. He also crossed the plate after reaching on an error, and is hitting .292 with a .982 OPS in the Fall League.

Durbin was pretty much unstoppable at the plate and on the bases, going 3-for-4 with three steals to become only the fourth player in Fall League history to hit the 20-steal plateau. He scored a run and drove in another, and he's hitting .351 with a 1.021 OPS and 20 steals in Arizona. More >>
