Steal attempt comes up waaaaaay short

Remember that scene in the movie "Major League," in which Willie Mays Hayes tries to steal second base and kind of ... doesn't get all the way to the bag? You know the one -- the shortstop takes the throw from the catcher and says, "Come on, come on," before tagging out the dejected Hayes.

Well, Keithron Moss of the Rangers' Low-A affiliate, the Down East Wood Ducks, knows how that feels in real life. Except the organization's No. 28 prospect per MLB Pipeline didn't get anywhere near as close as Hayes did in the movie when he tried to steal second against Myrtle Beach on Saturday night. He stumbled into an inadvertent head-first slide about halfway to the bag.

Though we don't know what was said by the middle infielders who were standing over Moss when he was tagged out, he got some help up off the ground, so it seems as though it was a moment everyone could laugh about.
