Twins place Austin Martin on 10-day injured list

MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL, MN -- The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have placed utility player Austin Martin on the 10-day Injured List with a right oblique strain (retroactive to July 6).

Martin, who is in his third stint with the Twins this season, has played in 47 games for Minnesota, hitting .265 (30-for-113) with nine doubles, one home run, nine RBI, 27 runs scored, 11 walks, six stolen bases (8 chances), a .331 on-base percentage and a .702 OPS.

To replace Martin on the 26-man roster, the Twins have recalled outfielder Matt Wallner from Triple-A St. Paul. Wallner, 26, has played in 67 games for the Saints this season, hitting .259 (67-for-259) with 15 doubles, one triple, 19 home runs, 53 RBI, 32 walks, a .343 on-base percentage, a .544 slugging percentage and an .887 OPS. In his last 19 games for St. Paul since June 13, he has slashed .367/.432/.747 (1.179 OPS) with 18 RBI and recently earned International League Player of the Month honors for June. The Forest Lake, Minnesota native began the season with the Twins, going 2-for-25 (.080) with one double, one home run and four RBI in 13 games prior to being optioned to St. Paul in mid-April.
