Colorado Rockies transactions

The Colorado Rockies announced today that they have acquired right-handed pitchers Bradley Blalock and Yujanyer Herrera from the Milwaukee Brewers in exchange for right-handed pitcher Nick Mears. Blalock will be added to the Rockies 40-man roster.

Blalock, 23, tossed one scoreless inning in relief for Milwaukee on June 20 in his only Major League experience … in 16 games (all starts) in 2024 for Double-A Biloxi has gone 5-2 with a 4.08 ERA (75.0 IP, 34 ER) with 27 walks and 64 strikeouts … over parts of four Minor League seasons, is 14-11 with a 3.87 ERA in 58 games (57 starts) … was originally drafted by the Boston Red Sox in the 32nd round of the 2019 First-Year Player Draft … ranked as Milwaukee’s no. 17 prospect by MLB.com.

Herrera, 20, is 9-1 with a 2.91 ERA (68.0 IP, 22 ER) with 23 walks and 77 strikeouts (10.2 SO/9) in 16 games (nine starts) in 2024 between Single-A Carolina and High-A Wisconsin … over four Minor League seasons in the Brewers system, has gone 19-12 with a 5.05 ERA (240.2 IP, 135 ER) and recorded two saves … originally signed as an international free agent with Milwaukee in Aug. 2019.
