Brewers acquire right-handed pitcher Chad Patrick from Oakland

MILWAUKEE - The Milwaukee Brewers have acquired right-handed pitcher Chad Patrick from the Oakland Athletics in exchange for infielder Abraham Toro. The announcement was made by Senior Vice President and General Manager Matt Arnold.

Patrick, 25, has produced 189 strikeouts in 176.0 innings pitched over his first three Minor League seasons (2021-23), covering 42 games (36 starts). He was originally selected by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the fourth round of the 2021 First-Year Player Draft out of Purdue University Northwest. Patrick was traded to Oakland this past July 31 in exchange for infielder/outfielder Jace Peterson and cash.

Toro, who turns 27 on Dec. 20, appeared in nine games with the Brewers this past season with five starts (2g at 1B, 2g at 3B, 1g at DH). He was acquired by Milwaukee from Seattle, along with outfielder Jesse Winker, in exchange for second baseman Kolten Wong last Dec. 2. Toro is eligible for arbitration.
