Blue Jays sign García
The Toronto Blue Jays have agreed to terms with RHP Yimi García on a two-year contract (US $15,000,000).
García, 34, pitched for both the Blue Jays and the Seattle Mariners in 2024, combining to post a 3.46 ERA across 39 outings with a 0.90 WHIP, a .167 opponent AVG, a 7.8% walk rate, and a 32% strikeout rate, while picking up five saves. The native of Moca, Dominican Republic, returns to the Blue Jays after making 163 appearances for the club across three seasons from 2022-24, going 10-9 with a 3.44 ERA and a 27.8% strikeout rate. Over 10 Major League seasons, the 6-1, 230 lb. right-hander owns a 3.59 ERA and a 1.05 WHIP in 414 appearances with the Dodgers, Marlins, Astros, Blue Jays, and Mariners.
