Andrés Giménez & Steven Kwan earn third consecutive Rawlings Gold Glove Awards

CLEVELAND, OH – Major League Baseball and the Rawlings Sporting Goods Company tonight announced the recipients of the 2024 Rawlings Gold Glove Awards. For the third consecutive year, Guardians 2B ANDRÉS GIMÉNEZ and LF STEVEN KWAN earned the hardware following standout defensive seasons from the duo.

Giménez, the 2023 American League Rawlings Platinum Glove winner, led all American League fielders with 20 Defensive Runs Saved and finished second in the AL with a Defensive bWAR(#) of 2.7, which ranked as the 10th-highest single-season fielding mark in club history. He led Major League second basemen in total chances (638), assists (396) and double plays (93) while leading all MLB fielders with 21 Outs Above Average(*). Over the last three seasons since 2022, the 26-year-old Barquisimeto, Venezuela native leads all MLB fielders in Defensive Runs Saved (59) while ranking second in OAA (52). He joins Roberto Alomar (1999-2001) as the only Cleveland second basemen to win three Rawlings Gold Gloves.

Kwan, 27, finished fourth among AL left fielders in Defensive Runs Saved (10) and second with 9 outfield assists, becoming Cleveland’s first outfielder since Kenny Lofton (1993-96) to win three straight Rawlings Gold Gloves. His 24 Outs Above Average, 47 Defensive Runs Saved and 22 outfield assists since 2022 lead all MLB left fielders.

Giménez and Kwan are the first Cleveland teammates to capture baseball’s most prestigious defensive award in three straight seasons since 2B Roberto Alomar and SS Omar Vizquel each earned the honor from 1999-2001.

Voting for the Rawlings Platinum Glove Award will begin online at www.Rawlings.com tonight at 9:30pm ET and will remain open until Thursday November 7th at 11:59 pm ET. The Rawlings Platinum Glove Award winners will be unveiled at the Rawlings Gold Glove Award ceremony in New York City on Friday November 8th.
