PITTSBURGH -- The Pirates announced on Thursday that 17 players, a group that includes four of MLB Pipeline’s Top 100 Prospects, will be in Major League camp as non-roster invitees.
Headlining the list of non-roster invitees are infielder Termarr Johnson (No. 26 overall), catcher Henry Davis (No. 57 overall), right-handed pitcher Quinn Priester (No. 60 overall) and infielder Nick Gonzales.
Along with those four, the Pirates have also invited right-handed pitchers Kyle Nicolas, Jared Jones, Carmen Mlodzinski, Cody Bolton and Wei-Chieh Huang; infielders Malcom Nunez, Andres Alvarez, Drew Maggi and Chris Owings; outfielders Matt Gorski and Lolo Sanchez; and catchers Jason Delay and Carter Bins. In total, there will be 65 players in Major League camp.
All 17 non-roster invitees are prospects except for Owings, who signed a Minor League contract with the club.
In addition to those names, catcher Endy Rodriguez (No. 55 overall); right-handed pitchers Mike Burrows and Colin Selby; and infielders Liover Peguero and Jared Triolo will be in Major League camp, with all five being on the 40-man roster.
Last year, Bins, Bolton, Davis, Gonzales, Mlodzinski, Nicolas, Rodriguez and Triolo were non-roster invitees to Major League Spring Training as well.
Along with the names announced Thursday, right-handers Tyler Chatwood and Nate Webb; left-handers Angel Perdomo, Daniel Zamora and Rob Zastryzny; catcher Tyler Heineman; and outfielders Miguel Andújar and Chavez Young will be in Major League camp.
