July 20: LHP Anthony Solometo (Pirates' No. 3 prospect, No. 77 overall) makes start
On Saturday, Pittsburgh's 2021 second-rounder made his first start since he was placed on the Development List on June 18 after struggling to a 6.27 ERA in 13 games for Double-A Altoona. Solometo fanned three batters across three scoreless innings at the Rookie-level Florida Complex League, allowing three baserunners on two hits and one walk.

RHP Hunter Stratton (right triceps strain)

Stratton has made two appearances as part of his rehab assignment with the Pirates' Florida Complex League team. Stratton's rehab assignment started July 15, as he continues to build back up after suffering a right triceps strain in June. His rehab assignment was transferred to Single-A Bradenton on July 19. LHP Bailey Falter (left triceps tendinitis)

Falter threw a live batting practice on July 18, manager Derek Shelton said, adding the team will be talking about his "next step" in the coming days. Falter was removed from his last start on July 6 and placed on the injured list the following day, so he would be eligible to return as soon as July 22. (Last updated: July 19)

RHP Jared Jones (Grade 2 right lat strain)

Jones will not throw for about two weeks and will need to build up from there again. On his weekly 93.7 The Fan radio show on July 7, general manager Ben Cherington said they need the injury to calm down first so it won't become something bigger, but Jones' return will be measured in weeks, not days. RHP Daulton Jefferies (right elbow inflammation)

Jefferies was placed on the injured list July 6 after throwing two innings of scoreless relief to close out the Pirates' win against the Mets on July 5. There's no timetable for a return yet for Jefferies, who has pitched four games with Pittsburgh after being acquired from the Giants in May. (Last updated: July 6)

LHP Ryan Borucki (left triceps inflammation)

Borucki is on a Minor League rehab assignment that started on June 25. He made his seventh outing on July 12, throwing a scoreless inning with Double-A Altoona. It was Borucki’s second appearance with the Curve following five rehab outings with Triple-A Indianapolis. He has allowed one run in 7 1/3 innings, while striking out 11 and walking two. C Endy Rodríguez (right elbow surgery)

The switch-hitting Rodríguez is facing live pitching from the left side, and taking batting practice from the right side. He is also throwing at 105 feet. The expectation is he will still not participate in games this year, but it's a step in the right direction for a return next year. (Last updated: July 2)

Oviedo started a throwing program at the Pirates' Florida complex the week of May 20 after crossing the six-month mark from his surgery. As of early July, he is throwing out to 90 feet. (Last updated: July 2)

RHP Dauri Moreta (UCL surgery)
Expected return: 2025
Moreta underwent UCL reconstruction surgery in March, confirming fears that he will not pitch in 2024. The team anticipates a full recovery in approximately 14-16 months, with the hope that it might be on the shorter side since he is a reliever. Moreta is in Bradenton, Fla., going through the strengthening and condition phase of the rehab process, and won’t begin playing catch until at least September. (Last updated: July 2)
