The under missed in the Philadelphia Phillies’ final two games before the MLB All-Star break and the first four games after the break. That six-game skid, however, hasn’t hurt the pace for the team’s best under season in the last two decades.

The Phillies aren’t the best under team in MLB betting this year. In fact, they’re just sixth for under percentage (.559) and under ROI (+6.6%), which trails MLB’s best under team, the Colorado Rockies, by approximately three percentage points and five percentage points, respectively.

Still, Phillies unders are winning at a historically good franchise rate thanks in part to the 12th-best team ERA, 10th-best opponent batting average and the seventh-best WHIP in baseball.

At 50-41-9, the under is hitting in 55.9% of their games, on pace for the highest since at least 2005. It hasn’t hit in more than 53% of games since 2009 (54%).

It’s a dramatic reversal from the previous 12 seasons when the under had a cumulative ROI of -4.1.% and finished with a positive ROI only three times, none of which exceeded +5%.

The under has been particularly good in home games (+10.3% ROI) and in games with a total below 9 (+18.1%) or above 9 (+18.1%) -- but not in games with a total of exactly 9 (-24%). It’s also been good in games started by Cristopher Sánchez (+65.6%) and Taijuan Walker (+15.1%), and in interleague games (+21.9%).
