Phils' Cozens makes history for Lehigh Valley
There were a pair of three-homer games in the Majors on Wednesday, the first time there have been multiple trifectas on the same day since 2013. But the real hat trick, at least from the Phillies' perspective, started earlier in the afternoon, when touted prospect Dylan Cozens went yard three times for Triple-A Lehigh Valley in an 8-6 win over Syracuse.
• Box score
It was the first three-homer game in Lehigh Valley's history, the second of Cozens' career and his second multihomer game of 2018. He also had a hat trick on Aug. 3, 2016, for Double-A Reading. He hit 67 homers from 2016-17 between stints with Lehigh Valley and Reading and led the Minors with 40 homers in '16.
• Phillies' prospects stats
Cozens, the Phillies' No. 17 prospect, went deep twice off Nationals No. 4 prospectErick Fedde and launched another in the eighth inning off right-hander John Simms. Cozens' four RBIs rallied Lehigh Valley from a 5-0 deficit.

Cozens, a second-round pick in 2012, has yet to make the big leagues, but the former two-sport star has shown as much raw power as any player in the Minors. His power grades out at 60 on the 20-80 scale, which is eclipsed by only four other players on any team Top 30 Prospects list. Scouts believe that if the 6-foot-6, 235-pounder can improve his swing-and-miss tendencies to become a more complete hitter, he could have a chance at the next level.
