PHILADELPHIA -- The Phillies did not make the biggest coaching news in Philadelphia on Monday.
On the same day the Eagles fired Super Bowl-winning coach Doug Pederson, the Phils finalized their 2021 coaching staff.
The Phillies announced that Dave Lundquist will replace Jim Gott as bullpen coach after Lundquist spent the past two seasons as assistant pitching coach. (Gott did not have his contract renewed following the 2020 season.) The Phillies also named Mike Calitri as a quality assurance coach. He served as the team’s advance scouting manager the previous three seasons.
The remainder of manager Joe Girardi’s 2021 coaching staff includes: bench coach Rob Thomson, hitting coach Joe Dillon, pitching coach Caleb Cotham, first-base coach Paco Figueroa, third-base coach Dusty Wathan, infield coach Juan Castro, assistant hitting coach Pedro Guerrero, assistant coach Bobby Meacham, and catching coaches Bob Stumpo and Greg Brodzinski.
