LOS ANGELES -- Pedro Florimón hobbled out of Dodger Stadium on Tuesday night on crutches and with his right foot in a protective boot.
He broke his foot after he fouled a ball off it in the top of the first inning in a 6-1 victory over the Dodgers. The Phillies placed Florimon on the 10-day disabled list. They will make a corresponding roster move before Wednesday's game.
Florimon actually finished his at-bat in the first inning. He even tried running to first base, but he said he felt a pop as he did. He did not return. Florimon said he will return to Philadelphia to get examined.
"It's life, you know?" Florimon said. "We have to continue. Hopefully I'll be ready soon."
Florimon is hitting .263 with two home runs and five RBIs in 57 at-bats.
"He has been a warrior for us," Phillies manager Gabe Kapler said. "We knew he hit the ball hard off his foot and we asked him how he was and he said, 'I'm good,' but you could tell he was struggling. Then he took one more good swing and running to first base it was tough to watch. I think a lot of guys are giving him a hug because we know that he's really posted for us. He's been a really good bench player for us."
