Padres' new home? Slam Diego, California
The 2020 Padres have a penchant for hitting home runs, particularly with the bases loaded. So much so that entering play Thursday against the Rangers at Petco Park, San Diego had launched grand slams in an MLB record-tying three straight games.
Then, in the fifth inning of Thursday's contest, Eric Hosmer's liner over the right-field wall made the Padres the first club in Major League history to have a grand slam in four consecutive games.
So, naturally, when your team name gives you a chance to commemorate such a historic occasion on Twitter, you do it.
The official account of the Padres changed its Twitter name from "San Diego Padres" to "Slam Diego Padres" moments after Hosmer's shot cleared the fence. And others followed suit, including FOX Sports San (Slam) Diego.
The Padres have been fun to watch in 2020, to say the least. And with all of the young talent in Slam Diego, we might see more history from this group before it's all said and done.
