Panda finds new home with Braves (source)

ATLANTA -- Four days after being released by the Giants, Pablo Sandoval has reportedly accepted the chance to continue his season with the Braves at their alternate training site.

A source confirmed that Sandoval has agreed to a Minor League deal with the Braves. The 34-year-old veteran will provide organizational depth over the final two weeks of the season and possibly be used as a bench player in the postseason.

This 2020 campaign was a disappointment for Sandoval, who hit .220 with one home run and a .546 OPS in 90 plate appearances before being released on Thursday. But the 2012 World Series MVP did hit 14 homers with a .820 OPS over 296 plate appearances last season.

As things stand, Sandoval does not fit into the Braves’ active roster, but in a year filled with uncertainty, it doesn’t hurt to add depth.
