HOUSTON -- The Orioles recalled right-hander Logan Verrett from Triple-A Norfolk on Sunday and optioned right-hander Tyler Wilson to Norfolk.
The 27-year-old Wilson appeared in eight games (one start) with Baltimore this season, compiling a 2-2 record and 7.43 ERA over 13 1/3 innings. In Saturday's 5-2 loss to Houston, Wilson gave up three hits and one run in one inning.
"He's making a lot of mistakes up in the zone," Orioles manager Buck Showalter said. "He's not an overpowering guy, but when he has his command, he can really make some contributions.
"But a lot of up breaking balls, his command hasn't been there. He's aware of it."
Showalter wasn't sure if Wilson will join the rotation at Norfolk or pitch in relief.
Verrett, 26, has made two relief appearances for Baltimore this season. He's 2-0, allowing no runs and three hits over five innings. He struggled at times at Norfolk, compiling a 5.68 ERA over 19 innings in 11 appearances.
Verrett was acquired from the Mets in the offseason. He broke into the Major Leagues in 2015 with the Rangers.
