Wednesday's top offseason prospect performers
Here's a look at Wednesday’s top performers in the Fall and Winter Leagues from each team's Top 30 Prospects list.
Red Sox: Triston Casas, 1B (MLB No. 18), Scottsdale Scorpions
Kutter Crawford, RHP (No. 23), Estrellas Orientales
After learning earlier in the day he was selected to play in the Fall Stars Game, Casas celebrated by tallying three hits and an RBI. The 21-year-old doubled, singled home his 10th run and scored. Casas’ 25 hits stand third in the league and his .357 average is fourth. Overall, the Miami native has a .942 OPS, five doubles and a home run in 70 at-bats.
Crawford extended his scoreless streak in style, tossing five hitless frames in the Dominican Winter League. The 25-year-old walked three and struck out seven while remaining unscored upon through three starts spanning 14 innings for the Orientales. Crawford has limited opposing hitters to a .079 average while surrendering six hits and five walks. The right-hander has struck out 15, including 13 over 10 frames in his last two outings.
Marlins: JJ Bleday, OF (MLB No. 71), Mesa Solar Sox
Bleday opened the scoring with a two-run homer in the opening frame, his fifth of the fall and second in as many games. The 24-year-old moved into second in the league with 22 RBIs to go along with a .329/.430/.620 slash line. Bleday’s 49 total bases, 26 hits, 13 extra-base hits and eight doubles are all second-best on the circuit.
Giants: Seth Corry, LHP (No. 11), Scottsdale Scorpions
Corry rebounded from his worst outing of the Fall League season with arguably his best. The southpaw picked up his first win after allowing one hit and striking out five over three scoreless innings, including four in a five-batter sequence. Corry, who struggled to a 5.99 ERA with High-A Eugene in 2021, has a 3.72 mark in five AFL starts spanning 9 2/3 innings.

Dodgers: Kody Hoese, 3B (No. 13), Glendale Desert Dogs
Jacob Amaya, 2B (No. 14), Glendale Desert Dogs
What had been a disappointing Fall League season turned considerably brighter for Hoese after Wednesday’s breakout performance. The 24-year-old launched a pair of solo homers, his first two long balls this fall, singled and scored three times. Hoese entered the game batting .171 with a double and three RBIs in 41 at-bats for the Desert Dogs. More »
Amaya apparently enjoyed Tuesday's jog around the bases so much he decided another one was in order. After slugging his first AFL homer during a three-hit performance a night earlier, the 23-year-old cleared the fences again and added two walks. Amaya has hit safely in six of his last seven games and is batting .341/.481/.610 in 52 plate appearances.
Cardinals: Juan Yepez, 1B (No. 26), Glendale Desert Dogs
Yepez moved back into sole possession of the AFL lead with 25 RBIs after driving in four runs. The Venezuela native walloped his sixth and seventh homers while adding his sixth double during a 3-for-4 performance. Yepez has an RBI in four consecutive games, plating eight in that span. The 23-year-old’s name is all over the league leaderboard because he is sporting a .319/.390/.710 slash line.
