DENVER -- The Phillies placed outfielder Odúbel Herrera (right hamstring strain) on the 10-day injured list before Thursday's game at Coors Field and activated outfielder Roman Quinn from the injured list (oblique) to take Herrera's spot on the 25-man roster.
Herrera had to leave Wednesday's 3-2 victory over the Mets in the top of the fifth inning after pulling up while catching a fly ball in left-center field. On Thursday, Herrera said that he expects to be back in the lineup when he's eligible to return on April 28.
"It doesn't seem to be a concern of Odubel's, but given his hamstring history, I imagine we're going to want to be really cognizant of what we learned over the course of the last several months," Phillies manager Gabe Kapler said.
Herrera strained his left hamstring while running from first base to third during drills early in Spring Training.
Quinn was in the lineup as the starting center fielder for the Phillies' series opener with the Rockies on Thursday, though Kapler said he may not start there every day while Herrera is out given that he's coming off an injury.
Quinn played in seven rehab games between Class A Advanced Clearwater and Triple-A Lehigh Valley, hitting .370 (10-for-27) with a double, a triple, a home run and two steals.
Meanwhile, shortstop Jean Segura tested out his strained left hamstring on the field prior to the opener against the Rockies. He had to exit Tuesday's 14-3 win over the Mets prior to the second inning.
"He ran 60-65 percent and it improved as the session went on," Kapler said. "He came in feeling improved from yesterday. It's still unclear if he's going to be available for today. He's not in our starting lineup, but I haven't had a chance to talk him yet."
